“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” Ephesians 1:13 NKJV
The Lord knows His people so well because His seal is encrypted on them. The seal is His Spirit. It serves as our evidence that we are His servants and ownership. The Spirit influences the way we live. The fruit of the Holy Spirit serves as our evidence to prove to our fellowmen that we are the true believers of Christ. So if we are true Christians, our lives should manifest the fruit of the Holy Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. The Church of God where we are called into is referred to as the Most Holy. Thus, we should not be known as holy by name alone but by the way we live our lives. The holiness brought by the Spirit should be reflected in the way we live, think, speak and act. This way, we are keeping the seal of the Holy Spirit with us as our ticket of salvation. Not that we are saved because we are righteous or holy. Rather, we are holy and righteous because we are saved. It is the Holy Spirit that empowers us to live holy lives. Be careful and avoid grieving the Holy Spirit. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave us. The whole world is waiting for us, the real children of God, for we are the instruments where they could find their way back to Christ Jesus. If we do not live according to what the Holy Spirit dictates, we cannot fulfill our duties to the world as God’s children.
